Ep 175 - The Movies To Show Your Kids

One of the best things about being a parent is being able to share the things we love with our kids including movies. But we can’t just show them everything all at once; babies aren’t going to fully comprehend Inception. And five year olds probably shouldn’t be watching Friday the 13th… but your mileage may vary. This month we make a list of all of the movies we’d like to show our kids so we can check them off as they grow up and the time is right.

Ep 174 - Fictional Character Job Casting

Remember that short-lived show, The Muppets, which was like The Office… but with Muppets? Yeah, me either. But it sounded like an awesome idea right? This month we are taking fiction characters and casting them into different jobs. And to make it interesting, we assigned the groups and the jobs to each other. Could the cast of The Next Generation end up working at a Taco Bell? Could He-Man and the Masters of the Universe be running an automotive repair shop? Only one way to find out!

Ep 163 - Kidults

The media has recently been highlighting how adults have turned to collecting and playing with kids toys, action figures and Lego. They have even given them a new name, “kidults.” But this is not a new thing. Adults have been doing this for decades, maybe forever. Model trains, doll collections and trading cards have been around and were common fixtures in our parents’ and grandparents’ homes. So why is this news now?

Ep 161 - That Hits Different as an Adult

Have you gone back and watched a movie or TV show or reread a book and thought, “you know, the antagonist really wasn’t that bad of a person. In fact, if a groups of kids did that to me, I’d probably react the same way.” Perhaps now the cool guy you looked up to in your earlier years isn’t really that cool now, in fact he’s a down right jerk. This month we’re looking back at media we watched when we were younger that hit differently now that we’re adults.

Ep 145 - Retro Cancelled Movies

Cancel culture has dragged some truly horrible people into the light of public opinion for actions that are not politically correct today. It has also done so with some innocent people but thats not our topic. This month we are looking back at movies from our childhood and doing the same thing. Sexist, racist and homophobic humor are all open targets. Violence, killings and abuse all has to go. Will any movies from way back still be OK for today’s audiences?

Ep 142 - WandaVision Discussion

Agents of Shield and Agent Carter were supposed to be direct tie-ins to the MCU but went their own ways never living up to that claim. So when Disney announced WandaVision would be a direct tie-in and was about Wanda living in a 60’s sitcom with the deceased Vision, a lot of people were scratching their heads. Now that the show has wrapped up, we discuss how it went from a quirky idea to one of the most interesting things in the MCU. Make sure you finish the series because we’re not holding anything back.

Ep 130 - Adult Theme Park

Disney Land is the happiest place on earth. Six Flags is fun for the whole family. While I have had a blast taking my boys to places like this, I have stopped to think, “what would it be like to go without the kids?” This month we’re coming up with a theme park for adults. What rides would there be? What lands would you visit? Get your tickets now!

Ep 126 - Old School Living

The purpose of technology is to make life better and work easier. Machines and computers can do almost anything these days and most of us have at least one piece of technology that exceeds the dreams of those that came before us even a decade ago. So why do we hold onto doing some things the old fashioned way? Paper calendars, sticky notes, hand washing dishes for example. This week we’re acknowledging there are better ways to do things, but in some cases we just don’t care and prefer doing them old school.
