Ep 165 - Disney Fellowship of the Ring

The ring must be destroyed! Carried to the foot of Mount Doom and thrown into the volcano there in order to destroy its evil power. So, who’s going? Maybe Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy? Perhaps they will be joined by Simba, Buzz Lightyear and Kermit the frog? This month we are casting Disney characters to fill the shoes of our fellowship, as well as some other key players in the Lord of the Rings story.

Ep 140 - The Mandalorian S2 Discussion

Last year Disney Plus had a runaway hit with The Mandalorian. So what could be better than that? Season 2 of The Mandalorian! In our final episode of 2020, we get together and discuss one of the few bright spots of the year. So grab your Baby Yoda merchandise you got for Christmas and lets look back at one of the best things to come out of the Star Wars universe.

Ep 117 - New Disney Afternoon 2

Who else but Disney would take a few characters from their animated movies, drop them in a completely different setting, and create a new cartoon out of it? This week we’re doing it again and creating our own Disney Afternoon shows based on animated Disney and Pixar movies. Because who doesn’t want to see Woody and Buzz Lightyear as investigators in a Law and Order rip off?

Ep 71 - It's Basically the Same Movie

Ever watch a movie and think, "this reminds me of something," only to realize later it's basically the same movie as one you've already seen? And we're not talking about remakes here either. The Lion King is basically just Hamlet... with lions. Cars is basically Doc Hollywood... with Cars. This week we make some direct comparisons between movies that share more than one plot device. We also stretch this idea pretty thin in some humorous ways.

Ep 58 - Geeky Dark Rides

Dark rides are those rides at amusement parks where the riders are taken through an experience or a narrative. Think The Haunted Mansion or the Back to the Future rides. This week the group creates their own dark rides based on movies, games and books that they would like to see made. We also recorded the show live on YouTube the audience got to throw in as well. Strap in and prepare to experience the movies.

Ep 54 - Geek Astrological Signs

This week we do a topic Lanie suggested... and then wasn't able to be on the show. In any case, according to astrology you have 3 signs; the sun, the moon and the rising which represent different parts of your personality. So we came up with a list of three different characters that we felt best represented those aspects of our personalities. This took a lot of soul searching for some of us.

Rogue One Discussion

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the second Star Wars movie to come out since Disney purchased Lucas Film and the first movie that isn't a direct episode in the series. Just like with The Force Awakens, we needed time to come to terms with our thoughts and feelings on the movie... and of course discuss with the group. So what did we think? In case you haven't figured it out yet, SPOILER ALERT: we will be spoiling the entire movie. So grab some blue milk and lets go back to the galaxy, far, far away.

Ep 29 - Line Sitting Memories

Waiting in line. There have been countless studies done on the psychological effects standing in line has on a person and they all say it sucks. But some times it doesn't. Some times you get to know the people around you and waiting for those tickets or item to go on sale becomes part of the experience. This week we share our fondest memories of waiting in lines to get new games consoles, movie and concert tickets and even rides at Disneyland. You can probably guess who enjoyed the lines at Disney.

Ep 23 - Love of Cosplay

Dressing up in a costume used to be for kids on Halloween and actors at amusement parks. But cosplay has really taken off in the past decade due to conventions and the fact geek is chic now. This week, we share our memories of costumes we wore as kids, costumes we've made and the ones we would love to wear one day. All it takes is a little imagination, a little skill with a glue gun and sewing needle and the sky is the limit.

Ep 10 - The New Disney Afternoon

TaleSpin used pre-existing characters in the Disney universe and tweeked them to fit into a cartoon adaptation of a movie / TV show. So we thought we would do the same. Using characters from Disney's vast catalog (Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Muppets, etc.) we adapt them to fit into other movies and TV shows thus creating The New Disney Afternoon! Everyone on the show is a geek about something, and this was Lanie's time to shine!
