Ep 22 - Work Spaces and the Future

If home is where the heart is, then your work space should be where your creativity is. Whether its a shop, crafting room, kitchen or just a closet tucked away somewhere, most everyone needs a space to make and create. This month we’re discussing where we currently get creative and what we would love to see them become. Nothing kills creativity like a work space that doesn’t work for you.

Ep 21 - Tis the Season for Creativity

Time to put the lights up on the house, decorate the tree and make festive baked goods… if you are into that sort of thing. No matter how you celebrate the holidays, or not, a lot of people find this to be a creative time of year. Whether its baking cookies with grandma’s old recipe, fixing the train that goes around the tree for the 100th time or designing a new light show for the entire neighbor to enjoy, a lot of us will be busy this season.

Ep 20 - Reminders for Creatives

Sometimes its nice to be reminded by other creators, especially those you hold in high regard, that we’re all mortal and no one is perfect. And it’s ok to take and break. And relax. And be selfish. Derek at Van Oaks Props posted a list of reminders for anxious / depressed creatives on Instagram a couple of weeks ago and it really hit home with us. So this month we’re discussing how we should take it to heart and remember that there is nothing wrong with pulling back from time time, putting down our tools and just catching our breath.

Ep 19 - Selling Your Soul

The customer is always right, right? Maybe not always. In fact, sometimes they are dead wrong. While not everyone may sell their creative creations, those of us who do have not always had the best experiences. This month we’re discussing the ups and downs of selling your hard work and what you can do to better understand what happens after you click buy from a maker.

Ep 18 - We Have the Tools We Have the Talent

Having the right tools and the experience to use them goes a long way. A really long way. We’ve all started from the beginning with some project or hobby and try to make do with the materials or tools we have on hand. Best case scenario we get the job done and make life harder than it has to be. Worst case, we ruin the project, hurt ourselves or even turn ourselves to the hobby all together. This month we discuss how having the right tools and talent can make all the difference in the world.

Ep 17 - Gearing Up Again

Even though the Delta variant is spreading in several places around the globe, things are starting to get back to normal in others. Movie theaters are opening back up, conventions are happening and a lot of us, especially those who have been fully vaccinated, are able to go and do things again. To include working on creative projects. This month we’re discussing how we’re getting back into the swing of things and how its making more things possible, and cluttering up our lives once again.

Ep 16 - Home Sweet Home

Home is where the heart is, and your design taste. Home improvement shows have been around forever but it wasn’t until Trading Spaces in 2000 that they really became en vogue. This month we discuss some of the shows we’re currently watching, why we enjoy them and how they influence our own home improvement projects.

Ep 15 - Weather Issues

While the mail is supposed to be delivered rain or shine, delivering on creative projects not so much. When you don’t have a dedicated workshop you often have to rely heavily on doing things outside so when mother nature isn’t cooperating it hard to get anything done. This month we’re discussing how the weather not only slows us down, but how it can also sap your creative spirit.

Ep 14 - Marketing and Judging Yourself

So you have made thing and setup shop. You are ready to start taking orders… but how do you get the word out? We are constantly bombarded with advertising to the point some of us have become almost immune to it; so how do actually let people know, “hey I have this awesome thing I would like to sell you”? This month we’re discussing how crafty individuals can market their wares without spending tons of money like the big guys do. Also we’re going to discuss judging ourselves against ourselves.

Ep 13 - Scheduling Time Instead of Tasks

Have you ever made a to-do list for the day, week or even month and found yourself frustrated that you are not getting through it quick enough or even at all? Things take longer than we budget to complete, stuff doesn’t work the first, second or even thirteenth time we try them and life is always throwing curve balls. This month we’re going to discuss the idea of instead of scheduling tasks to complete, just just schedule time to work on them. Why feel burdened that you didn’t complete everything on your list when you should feel accomplished you got done what you did?
